Mauna Kea Beach Hotel

Last time we were on the Big Island of Hawaii,

We were fortunate enough to visit the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel.

This hotel was founded by  Laurance S. Rockefeller  in 1965.

As we were walking the grounds,

We came upon this pathway.

We walked up to this view, and sat awhile breathing in the fresh salty air.

When we were ready, we kept following the pathway. . .

And I kept taking photos.

The above shot is one where I turned around to the pathway we had just walked down, to get a view of where we had been.

As we kept walking, the pathway wound around the lava rocks,

With exceptional views and no one around for miles.

I suppose I could have stayed there forever.

It was so peaceful and serene.

This was a couple of days after the Tsunami hit The Big Island, so as you can see, the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel weathered it just fine.

In 1965, this was the most expensive hotel ever built in the world.  If you would like to read more about the Mauna Kea, just click here.

Oh how I wish I was in Hawaii again!
I love that place. So calming and the beauty is so intense, I find myself feeling so much more in tune to my heart and soul there....so thankful and grateful for all of nature's gifts.
Love those islands.
Enjoy yourself immensely!

Why is it we don't all live in the places we've discovered we love so much?? Nothing is more boring than the Midwest, but this is where family is.... I'm hoping to be rich enough someday to travel and "vacation" wherever I want! I hope that for you, too, Mo!
