Rose Petals & Macaroons

I hope you are refreshed from your three day weekend and were able to enjoy some downtime along the way.

It was a long relaxing weekend for us and might I add much needed.

During that time, I was able to play.

With contrasts, textures, and colors.

I am still learning about photography after an entire year of taking pictures.

I think that is what I love best about it, there is no limit to what you can achieve through the lens of a camera.

Celebrating Berry Season

One of the best things about summertime are berries.

All kinds of berries.

They make any desert beautiful.

Simply beautiful.

Here, I have used Wilton's red rose petal cupcake liners.

With accents of white rose petals;

And red raspberries looking like jewels.

I complete the presentation with a beautiful white rose.

Elegance does not need to be expensive.

Especially during berry season.

Cranberry Spiral Optic

Here is another glass vase from my cranberry collection.

Today, I fill it with colors to make the hot pink in the cranberry glass pop!

In this photo shoot, I added a vintage rose dish and some cluster earrings from long ago.

In the earrings above, I adore the rose beads and the green, white, and warm color combination used.

This cranberry vase was manufactured by Fenton Glass somewhere between 1938 and 1940.

It is in their Spiral Optic pattern and features a opalescent swirl over a cranberry base glass.

      Sweet Moments

First of all, I would like to thank you for your wonderful and thoughtful comments.  I have tried commenting on blogs and for some reason it would not post.  So I will be wandering around again and hopefully they will have fixed this software bug.

Now. . . on to my newest design.

After visiting and posting about Cathy's rum cakes I was inspired.

I began with a bordered graphic and then simplified it to just the cake and text for a smaller button.

It is to help as a reminder to savor the sweet moments of today.

      *hugs*

          Villa High Tea Part 3

I promised you pictures I took of Cathy's Rumderful  cakes during my Villa High Tea with my mother.

          At a magical place called " Cathy Rumcake's ".

Cathy had several refrigerator units filled with various displays of her creative designs.

I am a big fan of cloches, bonbons and berries, so the above display was a favorite of mine.

Of course there were several beautiful wedding cakes.

Could you just imagine fresh roses all over this cake at a wedding?

          Or rose petals?

I adore this ornate silver cake pedestal shown above.

          Today remember to. . .

" Seize the moment. Remember all those women on the Titanic who waved off the dessert cart. "

          White Cabbage Butterflies for you

In keeping with the spring/summer theme, I have used yesterday's animation and simplified it some.

I used cabbage white butterflies and really like the way they contrast and pop out of the graphic.

Here is the graphic with no animation at all:

If you prefer the animation, I have captured a couple of these cabbage white butterflies for you below.

Butterflies - Free Animated Blog Graphic

As a designer, I love thinking outside the box.

And with design, there are no boundaries.

That said, my new design is really something new for me and I love it.

I am sure you will too.

              The quote says,

" Go on, hitch a ride on the back of a butterfly.  There's no better way to fly. "

                  Villa High Tea Part 2

The tables were set for our " Villa Tea " lunch with simple vintage elegance.  (The tablecloths were divine!)

It was a whimsical Tuscan escape taken in the middle of our day to   " Cathy Rumcake's ".

It was clear much thought (and good taste) went into decorating and personalizing each tea table.

Being a lover of vintage teacups, I immediately was drawn to display of teacups on each beautiful table.

Above you can see our delicious lunch which consisted of  a ribbon sandwich, strawberries & cream,  and Cathy's own homemade scone.

There were also delectable jams and a lemon curd in adorable little jam pots for the scone.

And best of all was desert.   Yes, Cathy's classic strawberry rum cake.  The same exact flavor I had at my wedding and on my parents 40th Wedding Anniversary.

In my last post on this topic I will show you pictures of Cathy's display of "Rumderful" Cakes.

                  So stay tuned . . .

                  Have a terrific Friday!

                  Villa High Tea Part 1

Yesterday, my mother invited me out to a " Villa High Tea " lunch to celebrate my birthday.

                  At a magical place called " Cathy Rumcake's ".

It was here, over twenty two years ago, my mother and I ordered the cake for my wedding.

And over sixteen years ago I ordered the cake for my parents 40th Wedding Anniversary Celebration.

                  Since we had arrived early,

My mother and I had the place to ourselves for awhile.

So I asked Cathy if she would mind if I took some pictures of her beautiful shop.

And gracefully she said, "not at all".

Through these pictures you can feel the Tuscan ambiance.

There is so much more I can't wait to show you about this wonderful afternoon, so check back soon!
