    Adorning Seashells

For awhile now I have been meaning to adorn a seashell since I have seen this done so brilliantly over at Betsy's Blogspot, " My Salvaged Treasures ".

Betsy inspired me to collect all of the goodies to make a decorated shell as a keepsake.

The best part for me is picking out which vintage treasures to line up to fit the mood that I am in at that moment in time.

This is what I ended up with...

I have another shell to decorate at a later date.

This one I have adorned with vintage porcelain flowers and pearl earrings that caught my eye at the time.

As Betsy had done, I had lined the rim of the shell with some vintage rhinetones.  I would like to thank Betsy for her inspiration and invite you to visit her blog.  Just click on her banner below:

    Treasures from the Gift Shop

Yesterday I got so excited when my sweetness brought in a huge box that was delivered in the mail.

I had promised my mother several items from my Gift Shop to help raise money for her woman's club in October.

My mother has always been the ignition in my drive to ultimately get things done.

I do believe she believes in me more than I do myself. (thanks mom!)

When I opened the box and began unwrapping each item, I was beyond thrilled.

I would like to thank all of you for making my Gift Shop a huge success.

If you do a search on Google, you will always find links to discounts for Cafe Press.

They update their discount links on a daily basis, so it is hard to keep them posted here on my blog.

Here is the new header I have created for my Gift Shop:

      Vintage Paris Postcards

This postcard was sent from Paris around 1910.

And some have never even been used.

I have found these words to post with them today:

      "  I am tired, Beloved,

      of chafing my heart against

      the want of you;

of squeezing it into little inkdrops,

      And posting it."

These words above are from Amy Lowell's,

      poem, " The Letter ".

      Inspiration

To me there is such treasures to be found in the words from vintage books.

This is a poem from 1902:

"   Like the beating of the wavelet,
like the ripple of the rill,

Like the gentle breezes fanning on
      the brow of wooded hill,

Gently comes an inspiration and it gives us thoughts divine,
And we place them in our store house,
to be used some future time.

As the rain upon the mountain finds it way to vales below,
As the rills that feed the rivers gently murmer as they go,

So the light of inspiration from a higher source doth come,
And we listen to the voices as they tell of brighter home.

Like the calm upon the ocean when the storm its force has spent,
Like the gentle light of heaven from the starry firmament,

Comes to us the welcome message from the glorious realms above,
Telling us that life's worth living if we live for truth and love.

Like the dew upon the roses sending forth their rainbow hue,
Or the sunlight in the diamond as it flashes into view,

      So the light of inspiration is in store for you and me;
It is seen on the highest mountain, it is found in deepest sea. "

This above poem was written by George Sanford.

Comfort Quilt - Freebie Blog Graphic!!!

Last night I wanted to create a graphic filled with comfort.

I know a few people having a rough time of it of late and wanted to create something to inspire during tough times.

What is more comforting than a patchwork quilt?  (My sister's favorite.)

So I began with a background of a quilt.  Then a perfect quotation.

Stitched it with a heart and added some tea stains of weathering.

I hope it inspires  and comforts you whenever you should need it.

      hang in there

      *hugs*

        My Newest Treasure . . .

Nowadays I am not really looking to add anything new to my collections.

But sometimes, the right item at the right price presents itself and. . . well. . .

I suppose I need no excuses why I brought this statue home the other day.

I was drawn to it like a moth to a flame.

I even had the perfect place in the house waiting for her.

A few days later I started adorning her with a vintage silver rosary,

And some of my most beautiful dried roses I have saved from my rose garden.

And the best part to me was making this crown for her.

Mary is after all, the Queen of the Angels.

I made the crown from purchasing a simple metal bracelet cuff from Michael's jewelry making section and bending it to a desired shape.  Then I finished it off by adding a beautiful jewel in the center.

I still would like to make her a crown of roses, but I suppose that will be in the future.

Petals of love to you all,

        mo
