Cheers! (Clink) Welcome 2011!

The movie “When Harry Met Sally” has become a classic for its great character dialogues and perfect one liners.

Today I would like to use one:

Harry: [about Auld Lang Syne] What does this song mean? My whole life, I don't know what this song means. I mean, 'Should old acquaintance be forgot'? Does that mean that we should forget old acquaintances, or does it mean if we happened to forget them, we should remember them, which is not possible because we already forgot?

Sally: Well, maybe it just means that we should remember that we forgot them or something. Anyway, it's about old friends.
To you my dear friend, a warm and friendly toast to you at the strike of midnight tonight…(clink)

…and may you and your loved ones enjoy a very safe and happy New Year’s Eve.

I would like to close this year with some of my favorite "Rose Petals from Heaven" blog moments of 2010...

Tea and Blossoms

Before my holiday ended, I wanted to be sure to post about one of my favorite holiday cookies.

I cannot remember a Christmas during my childhood without the homemade Peanut Blossoms.  (click here for the recipe)

When we were little my sister and I had the job of carefully unwrapping each Hershey kiss.

And shaping each little ball of dough;

Before rolling it in sugar.
My mother had the job of baking each batch to perfection,

Filling the house with the holiday scent of Peanut Blossoms.

As I grew older,

I held the tradition close.

Lucky for me, my son loves these cookies.

And they have become his favorite holiday cookie now.

In our extended family they are known as the “Christmas Kissy Cookies”.
And they are simply…delicious. (Especially with tea!)

Beautiful Words

Somewhere in my journey, I stumbled upon this beautiful quote.  (I am really not sure where it is from, perhaps “Pooh”?)

This is my wish for you:

Comfort on difficult days,

smiles when sadness intrudes,

rainbows to follow the clouds,

laughter to kiss your lips,

sunsets to warm your heart,

hugs when spirits sag,

beauty for your eyes to see,

friendships to brighten your being,

faith so that you can believe,

confidence for when you doubt,

courage to know yourself,

patience to accept the truth,
Love to complete your life.”

Our Sweet Hours

I do hope you are enjoying these sweet days free from work, school, schedules, and deadlines.  I find myself relishing every moment of this holiday.
In light of this, I have created my newest design to remind myself how precious these sweet hours really are.

I have created two beautiful colors for you to choose from.  I could not decide which one I liked better so I have posted both.

My Wish For You ~ FREE Blog Graphic

This design was sparked by my sister’s sweet Christmas gift to me.
Within the beautiful Christmas card from her was a gift card to Starbucks.  *happy dance*  (I am looking forward to my “Gingerbread Latte’s”.  Thank you Sis!)
I hope you all are enjoying your Christmas moments and I wish you always…

Christmas Rose

When the Magi laid their rich offerings of myrrh, frankincense, and gold, by the bed of the sleeping Christ Child, legend says that a shepherd maiden stood outside the door quietly weeping.
She, too, had sought the Christ child.
But she had nothing to offer, for she was very poor indeed.
In vain she had searched the countryside over for one little flower to bring Him,  but she could find neither bloom nor leaf, for the winter had been cold.
And as she stood there weeping, an angel passing saw her sorrow, and stooping he brushed aside the snow at her feet.
And there sprang up on the spot a cluster of beautiful winter roses, – waxen white with pink tipped petals.
“Nor myrrh, nor frankincense, nor gold,” said the angel, “is offering more meet for the Christ Child than these pure Christmas Roses.”
Joyfully the shepherd maiden gathered the flowers and made her offering to the Holy Child.
