Season's First

Here are a few more photos I took,

of  this season's first strawberries.

Adding the finely chopped pecans was a spur of the moment idea.

And I have to say,

The pecans were the perfect addition to the chocolate for a wonderful desert.

Something Sweet

Here in the desert Southwest,

It is beginning to warm up.

And as it does,

I see the grocery store shelves beginning to fill with bright red strawberries.

So I decided to share something sweet with Show and Tell Friday:

Hawaiian Sea Turtles

One of our favorite things to do while in Hawaii,

Is to visit the honu , or sea turtles while they bask in the sun.

Of course we mustn't disturb these treasured creatures. 

And we hope they do not mind us here staring at them

Every time we are lucky enough to see the honu, I am fascinated all over again by their magnificent size and am thankful the species is protected and safe from harm.



Happy Valentine's Day - 2012

" As with nervous fingers she carefully drew from a great white envelope the most beautiful cupid ever seen -- he of the angel wings.

1910 Valentine

While sifting through my vintage postcards,

This pretty rose caught my eye.

When I read the fine print,

It was a Valentine postcard sent in 1910, over 100 years ago.

I send it to you now in 2012. . .

Back to the Time

Recently, I was thinking back to the time,

When in elementary school, we all would create our own Valentine folders;

Decorating them with hearts and our name and then hanging them on the back of our chairs.

I am not sure which part I enjoyed more,

handing the valentines out, or receiving them. 

This little paper cone I made a while back and today I fill it with Valentine cookies.
