Whisper of a Rose Petal

Rose petals scattered about.

So soft. So fragrant.

Vivid colors of pink and red.

Masterpieces made by “The Maker” and scented with a kiss.

If you look close enough, you might be able to see the shape of a heart.

09252010 00316
But time is short for the soft and smooth petal.

09252010 00319
Enjoy them while they last.

They whisper to me to remember to “live in the moment”.

Vintage Sparkles

Vintage rhinestone jewelry seems to be “all the rage” these days.

It is easy to see why.

rpfh_092720103
I remember my mother always stored her vintage pieces of jewelry separately in little boxes.
rpfh_092720102

It was fun watching her open each box and lifting the little cotton blanket inside to uncover the treasure.
rpfh_092720104

I have learned it is best to store vintage rhinestone pieces separately, or between soft Kleenex tissue so they are not damaged.  The metal off of the back can scratch off easily.

If rhinestones are ever cleaned, they should be cleaned carefully with a Q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol because water can tarnish the foil backing.

I hope you all having an enchanting week so far.

Simply Beautiful

These classic large clear jars are made by Anchor Hocking.  They are available at many places.  (I bought mine at Target.)
09262010 020008The light purple lavender soaps are from Trader Joe’s.  (They smell heavenly.)
09262010 020005I bought the sponges at a local craft store; Several came in a package.09262010 020004The lavender soaps also make sweet  little gifts or favors.  09262010 020003 Just insert them into a premade organza bag and Whala!09262010 0200029 Below I filled a vintage apothecary jar with dried lavender.
09262010 020006And finally, the cream colored soaps on the bottom of this jar are made by Tom’s of Maine.  They are also lavender.
Simple ideas are beautiful.

Chocolate Box

I have this box of beautiful note cards I still have not used yet.

They are made by Lulu Guinness.

09242010 00314
They are decorated with a watercolor picture of one of her famous purse designs the “Chocolate Box”.

09242010 00311
I found the actual purse online at the “Vintage Purse Page”

This “Chocolate Box” opens up to store your essentials.

I am attracted to the silk ribbon wrappers ruffled around each chocolate.

This picture even has a picture of the note card next to the purse.

I simply love the name “Chocolate Box” and look forward to using them (one day).

Tea-Time

Welcome to Friday’s “Tea-Time” at “Rose Petals from Heaven” .

I love this little reproduction I have of a  painting by the famous British Artist, “Arthur John Elsley”.

It is simply called “Tea-Time”.

It shows a blonde little girl playing Tea Party with her Jack Russell Terrier puppies.

This British Artist was popular in the Victorian era for painting children with their pets.

Fox Terriers, collies, and St. Bernards were Elsley's favorite dog and puppy models.

Elsley who once only painted portraits, had a gift for telling stories through his paintings.

In “Tea-Time” you can see his talent for capturing movement and playfulness.

Thank you for visiting and…

An Angel in My House

Angels know they are welcomed in my house.
I always imagine many Angels all around the room I am in.

Prayer to the Guardian Angels
My good Angel,

Thou comest from heaven;
God has sent thee to take care of me.
Oh, shelter me under thy wings.
Lighten my path, direct my steps.
Do not leave me, stay quite near me and defend me against the spirit of evil.
But above all come to my help in the last struggle of my life.
Deliver my soul so that with thee it may praise, love and contemplate the goodness of God forever and ever.
Amen

Nineteenth Century Roses

The original watercolors of these botanical roses were published in London in the early 1800’s.

My favorite is the Single Indian Rose.

(Just click on each picture to enlarge.)

Enjoy!

Blogging in Pink

It is Tuesday and today I am blogging in “pink”.
This beautiful pink rose is from my rose garden here in the middle of the desert.  (Where yesterday is was 107 degrees)

Guerlain’s Aqua Allegoria Herba Fresca  comes in a wonderful little bottle.

Pink sea shells clustered into blossoms make up a treasured set of vintage earrings.

This pink opaque Quilt jar was made between 1894 – 1898 by Consolidated in Fostoria, Ohio.

It is the mustard pot from my condiment set.

Petals (from my Sterling Silver rose) are welcomed in any picture of mine.

I love the picture above.  To me, it exemplifies femininity.
